Optic Hockey Philosophy
At Optic Hockey, we believe true progress comes from a balance of skill development, personal growth, and the cultivation of both interpersonal and intrapersonal skills—each essential to a player’s success on and off the ice.
About Optic Hockey
Lane Zablocki
Originally from Peace River, Lane has pursued hockey across 12 North American cities before settling in Calgary. Starting in Wetaskiwin and advancing through the Leduc Oil Kings, he rose through the ranks to play in the AJHL, BCHL, and WHL, eventually being drafted 79th overall by the Detroit Red Wings in 2017. During his WHL career, Lane earned Scholastic Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors, while also actively giving back through community service.
Now, with over six years of coaching experience, Lane brings his expertise in skill development to the University of Calgary Men’s Hockey Team and through his own program, Optic Hockey Development. Using tailored on- and off-ice video analysis, Lane focuses on bridging the gap between training and game performance, helping athletes apply their skills effectively. His coaching approach emphasizes strong relationships, technical skill-building, and holistic growth for each player.
